Nov 6th 2011, 14:23 GMTIt doesn't seem to be the power supply. The power button lights up, and the drives spin for a second, then nothing. The power, wifi, and a couple of other lights are on on the keyboard. Tested an external monitor, so it is not the display. Went through all the troubleshooting steps on HP's website and the same steps again on the phone.
https://bestwfiles964.weebly.com/simbooster-premiun-2-9-9.html. Can't get to the BIOS screen. no cursor, no nothing. None of the function keys do anything when pressed during startup. There is just a quick spin of the disk drives and then nothing.
We tested the memory by removing each stick one at a time, and then trying them in alternate slots to eliminate that. Reseated the hard drive.
Still nothing.
So no beeping. Some lights, and disks start.
HP wanted to repair it for $399, and said they thought it was the motherboard. Uh, not paying $399 when you guys have a brand new one for $399.
Oh, of course, it was 2 months out of warranty.
Would love to recover the hard drive. And if there is a cheap(er) fix, would like to do that.
Any ideas are welcome.
